Talk:Hsinchu

This article should probably be renamed to Hsinchu city. The HSR train stop is in Hsinchu county, not Hsinchu city.

If two or more places share the same name as in Hsinchu City and Hsinchu County, the most well known is identified by the simplest form of its name (ie. in this case: Hsinchu), while the other places are listed with a suffix (ie. in this case Hsinchu County). For further clarification, please take a look at this article: Project:Article naming conventions. Even though the station that serves the Hsinchu HSR is in the county, not the city, the name of the stop is Hsinchu. As in other places around the world that have an elevated HSR system, the station serving a metropolitan area is often outside the city, but it takes the name of city that it serves (for example Osaka station is quite far from the city, but it is still called as 'Osaka'), not the name of the town where it is located. I hope that helps clarify the matter. If you have further questions, please ask. Also, thanks for adding info to the Hsinchu article. Take it easy. (WT-en) WindHorse 04:17, 3 February 2007 (EST)
I have a real name now. It is my pleasure to help :) You are right, Hsinchu the city is more well known than the county :) I will add some more detail about the location of the HSR train stop to help any unwary travelers arriving by HSR. At the moment it is quite desolate around the Hsinchu HSR station so people maybe shocked when they arrive expecting a "typical" Taiwanese city. --(WT-en) Myopiate 07:52, 4 February 2007 (EST)
Great, and if you have any questions, please feel free to leave a message on my Talk Page. (WT-en) WindHorse 08:00, 4 February 2007 (EST)
