Abbreviations[edit]

Any name with "Kuala" at the beginning can be abbreviated "K." and then the name of the river, but the standard abbreviation for Kuala Lumpur is KL, so do we want a redirect for that? Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:00, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why not? I did see it a few times as I mentioned in my edit summary in Special:Diff/4503541. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 07:05, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I guess the question is whether that abbreviation has any other meaning I don't know about, and also whether it should be "K.L." Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:37, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt KL has any other meaning, just like LA (even though LA could mean Louisiana in the postal world). British English doesn't usually put periods between acronyms (so the U.S. would be the US), but redirects are cheap so there's certainly no harm in having a redirect for K.L.; in fact, I'll create one right now. Thanks. LA in the U.S. does often mean Louisiana, while L.A. is unambiguously Los Angeles. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:11, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
