Downtown Kearney Historic District

[edit]

If you look at Commons:Category:Kearney, Nebraska and its subcategories, you can see photos of beautiful buildings on listed in the National Register of Historic Places. In fact, if you do a web search for "Kearney, NE historic district", several results point to an area of Downtown being listed as a historic district, for example this one:

The Kearney Historic Downtown District — encompassing an area roughly between 19th and 24th streets and Avenue A to First Avenue — has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

According to the announcement from the Nebraska State Historical Society, the Kearney Historic Downtown District contains 99 contributing resources within the roughly five square blocks along Central Avenue that demonstrate the commercial development of Kearney from roughly 1875 to 1965.

It looks like we ought to list this district as a sight. It would be great if someone halfway knowledgeable about the district would do the bulk of the work, but at least if we can find a useful official web page for that district, we could take a stab at it. Sandhill Crane viewing

[edit]

Should the Sandhill Crane viewing be moved to the "Do" category? While it is ultimately bird watching, it only happens at a specific time of the year and is usually best view from rural areas. I think since it's a pretty active form of entertainment, it should be moved. SimonLoaner (talk) 14:32, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, wildlife viewing is a "Do" activity. Ground Zero (talk) 01:42, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Lead paragraph

[edit]

The lead paragraph should explain why someone would want to go there, especially since that is what will appear in a Google search. It should explain more than just where the city is. What isvpecial or interesting about Kearney? Ground Zero (talk) 15:47, 4 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
