I've been here before when I got off at the wrong train stop on my way to Caernarfon. Very small town yet charming. The people are very friendly even to foreigners. Most Welsh and other English refer to it as "Llanfairpwll" and pronounce it as "LAN fare pee gee."
This article has a couple of mistakes I think: (1) Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu is only 57 characters not 85. (2) If the place in New Zealand actually does have 85 characters then surely that is the longest place name in an English-speaking country because the official language of New Zealand is English isn't it? —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) 195.27.15.134 (talk • contribs)
Rename to Llanfairpwllgwyngyll ?[edit]
According to Wikipedia ( w:Llanfairpwllgwyngyll ) it appears that Llanfairpwllgwyngyll is the real name and Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch was created for promotional purposes.
Can we change to Llanfairpwllgwyngyll ? I appreciate that the existing name is interesting, but no-one is likely to search on that. Andrewssi2 (talk) 00:21, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
