Future budding

[edit]

As mentioned in the article, there are thousands of town halls around the world, not to mention all county- and state-level government buildings. Even if we require the listings to be notable (see Wikivoyage:Listings#Historic buildings, sites and natural formations) we might have an overflow in the future. Possibly, city governments could be split off from other local government buildings. Some countries could have enough of interesting city halls to make up an article on their own; town halls in Germany could be interesting. Yvwv (talk) 04:12, 10 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

I think Town halls in Germany could be a viable article, but I don't see this much of a road towards it. The town halls etc. listed in this article seem worthy, but there is no structure. I don't know whether having by-country sections would be enough. With that, people visiting a particular country could take a look. Still, with say sixty countries with on an average a few entries, we have an article with several hundred listings and looking up your country with a few listings, probably mostly for town halls in the main cities, doesn't help much compared to just looking up sights in the centre of those cities.
I think the structure – based on what travellers the article intends to serve and how to best do it – needs to be thought out before it can get usable, preferably as long as the listings are few enough to be possible to get an overview of.

Historical sites?

[edit]

County Hall in London is a landmark, even if the Mayor of London is now based elsewhere.

I will of course note here that the "Mayor of London" is a different entity from the mostly ceremonial "Lord Mayor of (the city of) London" the latter has his own locations (Mansion House?) and ceremonies (Lord Mayors' show.) which could be mentioned in a relevant district article for London.
