Subregions

I think, the most logical way to subdivide this state is going to be the 5 official mesoregions:

• Southern Maranhão - map
• Central Maranhão - map
• Eastern Maranhão - map
• Western Maranhão - map
• Northern Maranhão - map

I started a map, at right. I'll plan on making the subdivision tomorrow, and hopefully can add some roads and other cities to the map later. Texugo (talk) 03:16, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

Merging subregions, 2023

This state was prematurely subdivided. None of the region articles has useful content. They should be merged back to the state article until someone has the time to add more content and more articles.

• Eastern Maranhão - 3 articles
• Western Maranhão - 3 articles
• Northern Maranhão - 11 articles
