Descriptions of cities[edit]

I have not visited North Bengal. I did my best to describe all the cities with hitherto empty descriptions, with reference to their WV articles and WP articles, except Balurghat. I'm having trouble figuring out what about that city would be interesting to a visitor. I can't really tell from either its WV article or its very brief WP article. So I did a web search on "balurghat tourism". The Tripadvisor page for the city wasn't too helpful. Another search result, this page, is more useful, so I'll paraphrase some of it, but really, anyone who knows these cities will probably do a better job describing any of them. "Other destinations"[edit]

This means "other than cities", and "cities" include small towns, villages and hill stations (but not archaeological zones, so Gour-Pandua is fine). If there's something spectacular that's the main reason to visit one of these towns, it could be linked instead of the town. I deleted the Jaigaon listing, since not only is it a town but one whose "only attraction is that it is on the border of Bhutan", according to its own WV article. Hasimara is a small town and Mirik is a picturesque hill station. Is there a way that we can feature some sight there, or should we delete them from "Other destinations"? Or is there another alternative? Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:24, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hold it: Answering my own question, this is a bottom-level article, so every town should be in the "Cities" list! I'll move the entries accordingly. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:25, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This is not a bottom-level article, it has a separate article on the Darjeeling district, but not on other districts, which is kinda fuzzy. --Soumya-8974 (he) (talkcontribs) 17:00, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think I should go ahead to reorganise the hierarchy so that North Bengal should be divided into Darjeeling-Dooars and Dinajpur-Malda. --Soumya-8974 (he) (talkcontribs) 17:02, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Putting this region out of hierarchy?[edit]

As we have two subregions Darjeeling Hills and Plains (North Bengal) under North Bengal, I think this region is redundant and should be redirected to West Bengal to reduce unnecessary complexity in hierarchy. Otherwise, we can convert it into an extraregion (like the one in Bengali Wikivoyage) covering both the Indian and the Bangladeshi parts of North Bengal. In both cases, we should rename Plains (North Bengal) to Northern Plains (West Bengal). Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 04:56, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well, instead of making North Bengal an extraregion, we can shun Darjeeling Hills and Plains (North Bengal) instead and move Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur and Malda districts to Central Bengal. I'll plunge forward and do the same. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 13:57, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
