Talk:Ohlone Wilderness Trail
Add topicFood
[edit]The Prepare says that there are no stores and that you need to carry food for 1–2 nights, but the itinerary is for five days. What are you supposed to eat those 3–4 other nights (and days)? Is there food at some campsites? Also, what facilities are there for cooking? Are you supposed to carry a portable stove? Is there potable water around?
Some of these things may be explained in the general travel topics about parks, trails, hiking and camping in the U.S.A., but it would be good to check that the info is indeed there and link the relevant articles. This goes also for the fees – I wouldn't want to carry a lot of money to pay whatever entry and camping cost. The specific info could be included in Prepare together with links to up-to-date sites.
Options for "Get in"
[edit]Google Maps says the Mission Peak trailhead is not too far from AC Transit bus 217 with connections to BART. Should this be mentioned in "Get in" as an alternative to taking a taxi or using two cars? What about the northern end of the trail, is there any transit access there?
Also, the top of the article shows this trail as part of the "Ohlone Trail route" along with the Arroyo del Valle Trail and the East Shore Trail, but neither of them are mentioned in the prose. Do those trails connect to this one, and if so should that be mentioned in "Get in"? —Granger (talk · contribs) 18:47, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
