Warning?
[edit]We have a warning in the article that is almost two years old. My impression is that this region is not likely to ever be entirely safe, so I'm reluctant to take it out but I am worried about whether it is current.
Does anyone have recent information? Pashley (talk) 19:12, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
- It described events of July 2012 & I removed it in Dec 2015. Is an update or some other warning needed? Pashley (talk) 02:49, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Borders
[edit]Pamirs#Get_in mentions difficulties at the Kyrgyz/Tajik border & at the Kulma pass. Is that information up to date? Should some text like "as of late 2024" be added? Pashley (talk) 15:59, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- Kulma pass is difficult but not unnavigable if your visas are in order, though they do tend to close it without warning for days at a time. The two primary crossings on the Kyrgyz/Tajik border are Kyzyl Art pass, near Sary-Tash, where historically there haven't been any violent clashes. Open to foreigners but sometimes closes without warning. The crossing at Karamyk is the other one, and where there's been the most conflict - this one isn't open to foreigners. There are a few other minor crossings where the situation is similarly unpredictable, though things have quietened down since 2022. Happy to update to this effect?

- That is, I'm happy to update it if it all sounds good

- The difficulty is that government advice in the region always differs from what the reality is (most government advice at the moment is that the border remains completely closed to foreigners) -- I was wondering how to navigate that in this article, if anyone could give some advice? Would just a note saying exactly that be enough?
