Merger[edit]

@Ground Zero are there any guidelines pertaining to when it may be more helpful to a traveller to combine separate articles? For example like Boston/Back Bay-Beacon Hill or Boston/North End? Maybe those two are just weird, I get that it's an art not a science. If there are no guidelines, that's fine. I'd like to be a better judge of what makes a good merge candidate. Thanks! Those two articles have a lot of content, so they are not good merge candidates. There isn't really any hard-and-fast guide, just whatever best serves the traveller. Ikan Kekek (talk) 14:15, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Arg, sorry I wasn't clear. I meant we have already merged Back Bay and Beacon Hill into one article. ButteBag (talk) 14:22, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@ButteBag: as Ikan Kekek says, there isn't a hard-andfast guide. In addition to "whatever best serves the traveller", Wikivoyage:What is an article? provides some useful advice. Ground Zero (talk) 18:39, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen that, thanks! IMO the shared town histories and transit options make for a good merger candidate. I don't feel there are so many POIs in either article that one would overwhelm the other. But to make this merge work, I guess you'd also need an editor who wanted to make a great article, and that's not me. Thank you for your advice! ButteBag (talk) 19:24, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
