Restaurants, Café, and Bar recommendations[edit]

Added Lost & Found Café as it allows visitors to access one of the historic houses along Chapel Street that has not been converted. The café occupies the original rooms in the ground floor, retaining all period features.

What should the criteria be for including eateries?

There is really no formal set of criteria I know of in terms of which restaurants, pubs, et al. should be listed. I'd suggest listing any that you consider good or otherwise notable. If the number of listings gets overly long, then we could discuss things further. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:39, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Publicly Accessible Folk Customs[edit]

I'm planning to add a list of public folk celebrations. As well as Golowan and Montol, other smaller events take place in-between, where the public are welcome to watch. Initially, I'm proposing the following three events, all of which have a procession and some form of concert or pub session where visitors are welcome.

  • St PIrans Day Parade
  • The May Horns
  • Guldize

By all means; put them under "Do," perhaps in a separate subsection of "Events." Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:40, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Done. The entries may need some tidying up - hope they're short enough - I want to give visitors an idea of what to expect. --Electric Antiquarian (talk) 07:01, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I like them. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Isles of Scilly Travel dot com[edit]

That doesn't appear to be an official governmental tourism agency, so if that's the case, it can't be listed, per this site's external links policy. Can anyone confirm or deny that, as the site says that it's a limited company, it cannot be the official tourism agency of the Scilly Islands? Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:25, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I did some web research and discovered that I was wrong - this is the company that actually operates the ferry, so it is entirely correct to link their relevant page, as was done. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:00, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Newly added Pirates of Penzance info box[edit]

I propose to remove this as it doesn't add anything for visitors to Penzance, and is factually incorrect in many places. There is no evidence for pirates in Penzance, and this is just a nice alliteration conjured up by Gilbert and Sullivan. Smuggling happened around Cornwall and most seaward-facing places in the UK, but this isn't piracy, even if there were sometimes violent clashes with the authorities. This information should be added, with reference and sources, to Wikipedia if applicable. I don't see that this is a useful addition for visitors and I'd like to remove it. Any objections to this?

@Electric Antiquarian: I'd agree that for a small town like this, the infobox isn't necessary and should probably be removed if it's not completely accurate or not relevant. I'll remove it now. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 15:20, 16 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
