"Call your near and dear ones first in case of an emergency rather than calling the police number." Huh? To say goodbye? Any ideas what this is meant to imply? --(WT-en) Inas 00:59, 17 November 2011 (EST)

Not sure what the original author meant, but the likeliness of familiar people close-by arriving earlier than the police (due to various reasons, e.g., corruption, bureaucracy) to help might be a reasonable explanation for that sentence. Or maybe because you might need witnesses to file a report? (WT-en) Vidimian 05:43, 17 November 2011 (EST)

Content moved from the article

[edit]

Hi, everyone. The "Nightlife" section seemed relevant to Chandigarh only, so I'm moving it here in case any of it might be useful to merge into the Chandigarh article:

Nightlife

[edit]

Night life is exciting in some spots (non-existing in most parts); for example in Chandigarh although Chandigarh being a Union Territory, there are lots of Discos and Nightclubs. Almost all are for straight couples only, so singles might not be allowed in, other than free entry for girls and women on some occasions. Other than that, there are many shops and eat-in restaurants. Also, Night Food Street (NFS), a group of overnight food serving shops is operational (7PM to 8AM) on Gheri-Route, near DAV college, CHANDIGARH.

These lists of non-English-language newspapers are probably not that useful to most readers of these English-language articles, and Indian travellers would probably be able to find them easily, anyway:

Punjabi:

  • Ajit - Local daily published in Jallandher
  • Punjabi Tribune - Punjabi edition of The Tribune
  • Rozana Spokesman
  • Jag Bani
  • Chardikala

Hindi:

  • Dainik Bhaskar - National Hindi daily published from Chandigarh.
  • Amar Ujala - National Hindi daily published from Chandigarh.
  • Dainik Tribune - Hindi edition of The Tribune.

Cities list

[edit]

There are currently 10 cities on the list, whereas there should be no more than 9. Which city on the list is least important and should be removed? Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:07, 24 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

I nominate Barnala for removal because its "article" is a total embarrassment. However, I will wait for a day or two, in case anyone has other ideas. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:49, 24 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Barnala has been deleted from the list, for the reasons cited above and at Wikivoyage:India Expedition/Punjab. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:18, 4 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Outline

[edit]

I downgraded the status of this article from Usable to Outline, for the following reason, taken from Wikivoyage:Region guide status:

StatusNameDescription
3 Usable Has links to the region's major cities and other destinations (the most important of which must be at usable status or better), and a Get in section describing all of the typical ways to get there. The most prominent attractions are identified with directions.

Most of the linked city articles are in very bad shape, and not close to Usable status. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:55, 24 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Nonsensical deletion rationale. Contested, and IMO this nomination for deletion is quite unlikely to succeed. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:13, 16 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
