Merge?[edit]

I am inclined to tag this for a merge into Silk Road, or just go ahead & merge it. Does anyone want to comment? Pashley (talk) 17:20, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Samarkand through Bukhara is a pretty standard section of any Silk Road itinerary, and there's virtually no content here anyway. I say go ahead and merge. --Peter Talk 18:39, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Wait... wasn't this one of the Uzbek regions? Will we have a blank on that part of the world map? In a hypothetical scenario where we have an article for an Uzbek village in this region in which no one on a Silk Road itinerary interested, where would the breadcrumb for that village link to? Aha! I had not realised it was a region; I was thinking of itineraries when I found it and just assumed it was a rather silly short-distance itinerary. As a region, it does make sense, so a merge would be wrong.
However, it seems to me "Central Uzbekistan" might be a better name. Pashley (talk) 01:21, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Whoooops! And one I created, no less. Central Uzbekistan might be a name better suited to the Tashkent Region. Looking at this again, I think the name works pretty well. --Peter Talk 04:50, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Meanwhile, I've created Sogdia as an extra-hierarchical historical region for the area. Another merge candidate? Pashley (talk) 15:49, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
