Technically[edit]

@Mx. Granger: In the sentence

"Lishan Village - while it is part of Taichung, it is more easily reachable by bus from Taroko Gorge."

the first statement is true: Lishan Village is a part of Taichung. The statement is modified by the second part that explains that it is easier to reach it from Taroko Gorge.

Adding "technically" to the sentence does not clarify it. In your edit comment, you say that are using "technically" to mean "Lishan is not part of Taichung in an intuitive or practical sense". Actually, Lishan is a part of Taichung. Unambiguously.

By "intuitive or practical sense", do you mean that it is not as easy to reach it from the rest of the county as it is from Taroko Gorge? If that's what you mean by "technically", then it is simpler and clearer to say that, as the sentence does. "Technically" makes it less clear, because it implies something without saying it. I think it's confusing to say Lishan is part of Taichung without some kind of qualification. It's not part of what one would typically think of as Taichung, but rather a distant mountain village that happens to be administered by Taichung. For example, this travel guide says "Although Lishan is marked off within the limits of Taichung, Lishan is completely different from what we think of as Taichung".
Would it satisfy you to change "while it is technically part of Taichung" to "while it is administered by Taichung"? —Granger (talk · contribs) 19:03, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's clear and simpler. I've made the change. Thanks. Ground Zero (talk) 19:21, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
