Deleted Sleep listings[edit]

This guy has deleted a number of sleep listings without comment. Have they been moved to the right place? (WT-en) Jpatokal 07:29, 24 July 2007 (EDT)

He/she seems to have deleted them a couple of times before as well. Two of the listings are suspect but the first two seem ok. I'll restore them for now.--(WT-en) Wandering 09:03, 24 July 2007 (EDT)

  • Villa Il Doccio Cicogna, Tuscany, Italy. A beautiful restored farmhouse with 4 units to rent. Accommodates up to 15 people very comfortably. Includes access to pool and hot tub. There is a large veranda for outdoor dining that overlooks the vineyard. Close to all the major attractions in central Tuscany.
  • Casa di Vignolo Pergine Valdarno, Tuscany, Italy. The oldest part of the building was built in the 1400's. Fully restored while maintaining the 'old world' charm you'd expect from such an old building. Located in the small town of Pergine Valdarno where there is a good restaurant, bakery, pharmacy, butcher, grocery store and bank.

  • Casa Burraia Charming country house near Montepulciano, swimmingpool and Gym. Parking by the house.

I agree more or less. I haven't been to Chiusi, Montepulciano, Pienza or San Gimignano, but I know at least San Gimignano deserves to be in there. I would perhaps still add Viareggio to the list. (WT-en) Timo Laine 06:31, 18 June 2008 (EDT)

Posted 27th of June 2009 I find Piombino quite interesting all year around, this town has really got it all.

The pages listed in the Provinces section are the same pages as those for the cities. I think new pages for each province should be created, such as Arezzo (Province). The cites and other destinations would then need to be added to the correct province page. It will then be possible to prune the list of cities.(WT-en) Chris1515 10:00, 4 August 2009 (EDT)
Indeed, the cities list is too long—time to subdivide into regions. After creating the province articles, it would be good to prune the list to nine cities, and the above recommended list seems fine to me. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 14:18, 4 August 2009 (EDT)
I have now created the province pages and copied all the cities to these province pages. I have pruned the cites list to the 9 suggested above. A number of sub-regions for Tuscany have been created in the past. Those that are entirely within one province have been moved to that province. To who took off the listing. Please reconsider it. Travellers when looking for something to do they look under the region and not the city. This is customary and I believe that no one will find a specific thing to do or eat if they would have to look under each of the 200 and more town or village. So if I go to Provence and want to do a cooking class, I will never look under each oof its town, it will take a day, so I will abandon Wikivoyage for something else. I am sure that other places are under a different rule. Also this rule helps large cities and penalises regions with small villages like tuscany. A large city like New York or Paris, if I am looking for what to do, I will get the result of the activity of 10 million people alltogether, while here, with your idea of distributing things to do into 200 pages, it would be certainly not user friendly. Going by population number, it's like asking New York to have a "thing to do" page for each street. That would be cumbersome. Yes we added the listing for evident commercial reason, that is evident. But I believe that is the spirit of wikytravel " a travel guide to Tuscany" says the title. Your cleaning up now have created a page that is just like Tuscany under Wikipedia, so you are ruining the spirit of a travel guide. The result would be many bounceback.

Regional-level articles shouldn't have specific listings, but instead a prose summary. I tried my hand at one, but I don't know what to say about parks, so someone who knows the regional parks well and would like to write a summary about them would be doing a good service. Meanwhile, here are some listings that were moved from "See," in case anyone would like to refer to them:

  • Cathedrals. Every Tuscan city has a cathedral (duomo), each one prettier than the other. 
  • David. Michelangelo's masterpiece is in the Galleria dell'Accademia delle Bella Arti in Florence [2]. Copies in the same city on Piazza della Signoria and Piazzale Michelangelo. 
  • Leaning tower. The instantly recognizable landmark is in Pisa on the square of miracles, Piazza dei miracoli. 
  • Leonardo Da Vinci Museum, Castello dei Conti Guidi, 50053 VINCI - FI - Italy (the Museum is open every day from 9:30AM to 6PM.), ☏ +39-0571-56055, . I created a new alternative banner for this article (I initially created it first and foremost so that it would be used at the top of the parallel article in the Hebrew edition of Wikivoyage, yet I later decided to also suggest that the English Wikivoyage community would consider using it here as well). The cypresses are really emblematic of Tuscan countryside, whereas the new banner is of a particular place. Given that, although I was unsure at first, I think I would support retaining the current banner. I also like the current banner's composition more. Hello. We're organizing a trip to w:Cascina with some wikimedians of Tuscany. See it:Wikipedia:Raduni/WikiGita all'abbazia di San Savino, We will visit a place that is usually closed. It is nothing fancy but we will also show some new tools for image harvesting (wiki needs pictures, we are going soon to update more than 180k entries of building missing an image on wikidata). We have already a Swiss and a de-N user joining us, so it is quite international if you want to join! Also as a member of https://it.eurobilltracker.com/ I will also introduce to money tracking app, so a lot of synergy.
