US$

[edit]

@Traveler100: This template is used in non-U.S. articles, like Nha Trang, so it should give the currency as US$ instead of $2. "$" alone is ambiguous, especially in countries like Mexico and Colombia where prices in our articles are given in either M$ or US$, or COP$ or US$,"respectively. Mouse over does state US$. Wondering if it is technically possible to add US if article it is used in is not in a the United States of America category or a sub-category. --Traveler100 (talk) 19:16, 24 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
That would be a good approach. I've never seen the mouse-over work because I'm usually using a mobile device. Using "$" to mean "US$" in an article that isn't about the U.S. doesn't make sense in an international project, and can be confusing in the cases above. A work-around to this problem is to use US{{USD|2}} for non-US articles, which produces: US$2. Ground Zero (talk) 12:22, 27 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
