Mandarin speaking places in Oceania[edit]

Where is Mandarin spoken in Oceania? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 23:21, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In Australia. Most Chinese Australians speak it as their first language (and about 7% of Australia is Chinese, roughly). Hope this helps. P.S: I will also add Spanish to that list because they speak Spanish on Easter Island. 144.136.0.213 23:24, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
True, but at the same time, the need for a traveller needing to use Mandarin is very low (and I say this having never needing to know Mandarin for about 11 years in Sydney, and in other places I've lived, similarly, never had to use Mandarin).
And re espangol, Easter Island is breadcrumbed under South America, so hence why it's not covered here. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 23:31, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah okay, sorry about that. I just thought that because Yiddish is marked under North/South America that Chinese should be under Pacific. Thanks for correcting me though.
But I don't see any harm in having Mandarin as it might be useful in Chinatown. And same with Easter Island given that it's often treated as being part of Oceania. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 23:38, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I just restored them, given that now I also think it should be listed. Geographically, technically Easter Island is part of Oceania, it's just that our {{IsPartOf}} template doesn't allow that for some reason. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 23:40, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Thanks. 144.136.0.213 23:42, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
