Deutschlandticket
[edit]Hey,
(1) you added, that it's possible to go to Groningen with the Deutschlandticket. Can you prove that? I couldn't find anything in Google.
(2) You added that the D-Ticket is valid to Tønder, Hengelo, Sarreguemines, Wissembourg, Lauterbourg and so on. Are these really important cities? Does it really help the reader to have to go through 17 bullet points? Does the average non-German reader even know where Niebüll, Wörth, Zittau, Landau and so on are?
(3) You also added that the Deutschlandticket is valid additionally "on many local crossborder bus routes that often connect to train stations." Does that really help the reader? Because the D-Ticket is also ''not'' valid on many local crossborder bus routes. And if the ticket may be valid on some more crossborder routes, those are also less important cities regarding tourism... 80.187.124.133 11:57, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi. My sources were both personal knowledge in addition to an online resource (can't find it but easy to find with a quick search) showcasing DT validity outside of Germany proper. Considering its only valid on 17 lines across the national border I'd say it's quite compact, not as if I listed 50 lines. The notice re: buses is IMO useful as hint to any reader to make sure if they can use their DT for cross border trips and refer to the local Verkehrsverbund. How would you phrase it? The DT is valid on trains to A, B and C. You can also use it on many local buses that cross the border, check with the local transport company ? Deutschereditor (talk) 19:43, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- I checked a lot of resources and none of them say that Groningen are included in the Deutschlandticket. This reference confirms that Groningen is not included: https://www.oz-online.de/artikel/1399941/Keine-Fahrt-nach-Groningen-Region-schaut-beim-Deutschlandticket-weiter-in-die-Roehre. Did you personally ask an employee that confirmed the validity?
- The Deutschlandticket is valid on more than 17 international train lines: https://bahnreise-wiki.de/wiki/Deutschlandticket_Geltungsbereich. To show them all is just too much. Focus is needed. A non-German traveler may know the 5 or 10 biggest cities of a country. So an average traveler in many cases does not know any of the towns in the 17 bullet points, not even in which country around Germany they are. You cannot expect the reader to check all 17 bullet points to find out in which country the towns or villages are. Lauterbourg and Wissembourg don't even have a Wikivoyage article. Small villages and not much to see there.
- Tondern is the German name of the town that English speaking people don't use.
- I'm in favor to have it this way:
- "The Deutschlandticket is also valid on a limited selection of routes from Germany to its neighbouring countries.
- To Switzerland:
- To Basel in the S6 and regional trains
- To Austria:
- To Luxembourg:
- To Luxembourg (city) in the RE11 from Koblenz, public transport in Luxembourg (country and city) is free
- To the Netherlands:
- To Hengelo in the RB61 from Bielefeld, Osnabrück, Rheine and Bad Bentheim
- To Enschede in the RB51 and RB64 from Dortmund and Münster
- To Arnhem in the RE19 which departs e.g. from Düsseldorf
- To Nijmegen in the SB58 express bus which departs e.g. from Kleve and Emmerich
- To Venlo in the RE13 which departs e.g. from Düsseldorf
- To Poland:
- To Świnoujście in the RB23 e.g. from Usedom
- To France:
- To Strasbourg only with a supplement ticket of €4.20
- To Sarreguemines (Saargemünd) in the Saarbahn from Saarbrücken
- To Denmark:
- To Tønder in the RB66 from Niebüll"
