Soft redirect

[edit]

Hello, Zinnober9, firstly, congrats on your temporary RfA! This community well appreciates your work and will continue to be invaluable.

One small, thing, though: are you able to remove the soft redirect to enwiki? Since you are a sysop here, it would be more ideal to contact you locally as opposed to enwikivoyage matters on enwiki.

All the best,

Thank you (and everyone else!) so much! Looking forward to it. Sure, I had added that early on to help reassure anyone who might have been uneasy seeing my sudden edits on multiple archives and other unexpected pages. I've removed it from this page, and adjusted my Userpage a bit. I can re-adjust if need be. Zinnober9 (talk) 05:07, 23 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and vandalism

[edit]

Hi, and thanks for helping out with some moderation. Two things, though: (1) Wikivoyage is not a Wikipedia project, but rather, a Wikimedia site. (2) Our practice in regard to vandalism is Wikivoyage:Deny recognition. So if someone vandalizes, rollback - and if warranted, block - without notice to the vandal. My practice is to rollback and ignore a single instance of silly or not too disruptive vandalism, particularly if it's on a relatively low-visibility page, but otherwise to give the offending account a block that seems commensurate with the disruptiveness of the edits. I normally don't post to their user talk page unless I'm unsure they really intended to vandalize. Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:31, 30 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I forgot Wikimedia was the group as a whole. Wikimedia is typically mentioned in connection to Wikicommons and Wikidata that I've grown to incorrectly think of Wikimedia as that "wing" of the Wiki collective. I'll need to clear that misconception from my mind. For (2) That IP had created the Livingston page without any obvious problems (though it's very short/bare), so since their three edits were a mixed set, I wasn't as certain since it was just the one off. I understand and agree with your logic though, and did deny the two accounts I handled for promotional spam on their userpages since those were cut and dry cases. I followed what you and SHB2000 had done for a few other recent past cases of similar actions, so those should be in keeping with Voyage's standards.
In other news, I finished up my delinting efforts last night, so the recent changes page should be a lot calmer/quieter in the coming days.

Great! That was a big job! Back to vandalism, what I do in unclear cases is ask what the user had intended to do, say it looks like vandalism and don't do it again, or something like that. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:49, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
