Correct differences[edit]
Is there a standard way to explain that (and perhaps why) coords here and on Wikidata differ with good reason. In discussions the midpoint vs main entry has popped up. The difference is seldom over 50 km (the threshold), but can be easily be that much for parks. The latest article I stumbled across was Enontekiö. where Wikidata has coords for Hetta (probably a specific crossing from where road distances are counted), while our coords are tailored to get all of the municipality to fit the map.
There should be a possibility to add a parameter (perhaps coords_difference_explication= – hopefully something less cumbersome) to keep the article away from the maintenance category. Otherwise somebody will sooner or later harmonize the coords, perhaps without edit summary, so that the WV tailored coords get lost. This is similar to some non-international phone numbers.

- I see you have discovered the qualifiers on wikidata. I have found that the coordinate location is at point of population centre, if that is the case and do not want to change it, add the parameter coordinates of geographic center to the wikidata so can get the map showing the whole region. --Traveler100 (talk) 18:52, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- We also have cases where we tell the entry point coordinates. Do they have a suitable qualifier? Do we always prefer them if listed? Probably not, I suppose we mostly want the centre for destinations, but the entry point for listings. There may be exceptions also to that rule. –LPfi (talk) 12:46, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
