I wish there was some info on which types of cell phones work in Aruba. Anyone have this info?
Restaurant list
[edit]Egads. Anybody want to take a stab at that ridiculously long list of restaurants? (WT-en) Jpatokal 12:34, 27 March 2008 (EDT)
Sleep
[edit]Most of the write-ups for hotels/resorts heavily smack of "business PR". If you have stayed at any listed, please re-write its entry for objectivity.
Listings
[edit]I suspect the tourism board has been at work :). Apart from anything else, all listings for Eat, Drink and Sleep should be moved out of this article into the relevant city article. Long job for somebody..... --(WT-en) Burmesedays 05:02, 20 January 2010 (EST)
- Can't we just move them to the Talk page and get rid of them? I really don't see the value of these tourism board dumps. Thailand is completely overfilled with them, but does it really add something to the travel guide we want to create? It's just listings, but no real experience from travelers themselves. If travelers want listings from the tourist authority, they might as well just go or inform there. --(WT-en) globe-trotter 07:11, 20 January 2010 (EST)
- And here they are:) --(WT-en) Burmesedays 10:06, 20 January 2010 (EST)

New writer trying to figure out what happened to my contribution on Donkey Sanctuary?
[edit]I am confused as to why my little blurb on the Donkey Sanctuary was deleted. Since I am new (just joined today), I am not sure what I need to do to add it back on. I noted that the "list" is already longer than 9 attractions, so I am not sure that adding one more would be a problem. We just returned from Aruba last week, and I think the Donkey Sanctuary is a great place to visit, especially for kids) and is also worthwhile to add since it is completely non-profit and is a good cause. What do I need to do to get permission to include it (somewhere) in this article? Thanks! —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) Suzieqmom (talk • contribs)
- Your listing hasn't been changed - maybe you're seeing an old version of the page? If you refresh the page in your browser does your listing show up? -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 17:13, 29 November 2010 (EST)
No, it's gone, as are my edits to Hooiberg (561 steps, not 1000+) and that Papamiento is an official language too. All 3 are gone, not sure why? Should I put them back in? —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) Suzieqmom (talk • contribs)
- Your edits are definitely still there - if you can't see them by viewing the main page then you can view them by clicking on the latest update from the "History" tab (example: http://en.wikivoyage.org/w/index.php?title=Aruba&oldid=1586826). That said, this morning I didn't see your changes in this article until I refreshed the page, so it seems that wikivoyage.org might have a problem with its cache. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 10:51, 30 November 2010 (EST)
Thanks--I see them now through the link you provided! I appreciate the help!
Adopting American spelling for Aruba
[edit]Per Talk:Netherlands, ideally, British spelling should be used, but when writing Arikok National Park, I noticed that Aruba's official tourism website uses American spellings such as center and having an example such as a mix of the two in Arikok National Park looks plain weird and wrong to me. Therefore, I'm proposing whether we can add an exception to the countries part of the EU rule, and use AmE for articles about Aruba. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:37, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
- Also, I noticed that on their tourism website, they use the 12-hour clock. So should we adopt the 12-hour clock and American spelling for Aruba? I'm not sure how the currencies should be formatted tho. @Ground Zero:, since you added the format box for most other country talk pages, any suggestions for how the currency should be formatted? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:56, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
- One website isn't sufficient to determine what is used in a country as it could reflect the preference of the webmaster, or the use of translation software. I checked some restaurant websites and they use the 12-hour clock, so I agree with that. I think you should look at some other websites, e.g., a local newspaper, before concluding anything about spelling. Ground Zero (talk) 11:47, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not sure whether the "one website" thing is a translation software thing, since the visitor centre is a proper name which uses the AmE spelling (not even in Papiamento). The official tourism website gives you a choice while the official government website uses American spelling. I'll look for more websites soon.
