"West Side" or "west side"?[edit]

I'm seeing capitalized and lowercase versions of "East/West Side". One thing's for sure: Capitalizing only the direction is wrong, as mere directions (north, south, east, west, etc.) never get capitalized unless they're part of proper names (North Dakota, South Korea, East Malaysia, West Africa, Southeast Asia, etc.). But we need to be consistent within the article. So are these proper names or not? Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:54, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I guess it depends if it's an official name, or just the part of town that happens to be on the east or west. I have the same conundrum with "town centre" (or "Town Centre"?)--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 22:47, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, indeed. These things will vary by city - or in this case, island. But within each city's or island's guide, there has to be consistency. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:55, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My guess is that it should not be capitalized in this case. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 00:57, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
