Banner[edit]
Recently, I've been doing some research about this place before a trip to South Island next autumn. Whilst doing so, I found this page which made me feel it definitely needs a clearer banner because the current underrepresents this very beautiful, underrated part of the world or even NZ for that matter. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 12:09, 23 July 2022 (UTC)

Merge in all region articles[edit]
Canterbury is one of the most confusing articles that have been subdivided. No static map, no mapmasks, resulting in fairly arbitrary region boundaries. As of writing this article, there are four region articles beneath this, which is reasonable, but the number of articles beneath is not:
- Greater Christchurch – 6 articles, 2.5kB;
- Mackenzie Country – 3 articles, 4.1kB;
- Mid and South Canterbury – 4 articles, 2kB;
- North Canterbury – 2 articles, 1.4kB.
Then there's Arthur's Pass National Park, which is breadcrumbed to this article. Merging all articles here will result in 16 articles, which seems reasonable.
For one, I don't think that these region articles will be filled anytime in the next few years, not because there's a lack of will, but because they are confusing to the point where no one, but the user who regionalised this article, will understand them. Secondly, I think many of these aren't too far from Chch and there were very few brochures I picked up that used any of these terms barring Mackenzie Country.
