Indigenous Daitoic really exist?
[edit]I have never heard of "indigenous inhabitants" in Daito islands. As far as I know, all the three islands were uninhabited until the immigration from Hachijo island started. (Official website of the village council clearly states so. ) There were immigrants/workers from Okinawa mainland as well, so it's quite likely there have/had been a discrimination or a confrontation between those two groups, but does "indigenous Daitoic" really exist? What is the source of that information? (The word Daitoic yields only 1 Google hit, by the way.) 218.110.51.72 17:13, 22 July 2006 (EDT)
- 218.110.51.72 was me. Since no sources are provided yet for the existence of the "indigenous inhabitants", I'm going to delete the paragraph in question. If there is a convincing source for that claim despite what village councils' say , please cite. (WT-en) Kzaral 03:21, 21 January 2007 (EST)
Merge Minamidaito and Kitadaito into this?
[edit]IMHO we don't really need three separate articles for two really, really remote islands with a total population of 2,000. Jpatokal (talk) 06:49, 6 May 2024 (UTC)

- For convenience, you should link Kitadaito and Minamidaito, and the thing is, both are substantive articles. Why don't you make a draft of a merged article, so we can see how it is? But on the face of it, I think the argument isn't against those two articles, which look quite valid, but against the need for this one. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:23, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
