Is this an extraregion or not
[edit]In my humble opinion, this here region clearly crosses our established region boundaries, that is Germany being subdivided into "Länder". Now I might be mistaken, but other regions such as Baltic Sea Coast (Germany) also have cities in them while still being treated as extraregions... Hobbitschuster (talk) 13:00, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- I think we are going to have to split into North and South Eifel. This article was initially not an extraregion and still has a number of cities belonging to it (thus is in the primary hierarchy). However it was decided that Läder would be the top main regions of Germany and not use geographical regions so to stick to that technical two regions are required, one for NRW Eifel and one for RLP Eifel. --Traveler100 (talk) 13:59, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hm... With the Eifel region (as such) being a very popular tourist destination and our coverage still underdeveloped, we should be careful not to go against traveller's interest just to fix a technical hierarchy issue though... JuliasTravels (talk) 14:06, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- Yes that is basically why I had not touched it before. One possible solution is to put the NRW cities in a new region but reference them in this one too while it belongs to RLP. Similar to Middle Rhine Valley which although mainly in RLP also has some towns in Hesse, but as far as tourist are concerned is one destination area. --Traveler100 (talk) 14:54, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- Well we have extraregions precisely because they would mess up geographical breakdown. And I don't think separating Eifel in two does much good for either its or NRW and Rheinland Pfalz's regiobal breakdown, which is messy as it is... Hobbitschuster (talk) 18:09, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- No, but the Middle Rhine Valley solution seems to work, don't you think? JuliasTravels (talk) 09:21, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- I don't know, as of now both Länder have the subregion Eifel and link here. Our breadcrumbs don't allow for that but I do think it is a good solution for a messy situation, at least for now. Splitting this region for the sake of splitting it (and shoehorning it into our hierarchy) would imho do no good to anybody... Hobbitschuster (talk) 13:24, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- OK give up you win, have altered the other article to match. --Traveler100 (talk) 20:41, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I had forgotten about that discussion. Hobbitschuster (talk) 21:04, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
