I am about to replace this map with one that is simpler & therefore I think better. See Mohenjo-daro#Understand.

Sanskrit

In Indus_Valley_Civilisation#Understand we have a sentence that used to be:

The Aryans spoke Sanskrit, the language of the oldest Hindu sacred texts, the Vedas, and the ancestor of all the main modern languages of Northern India and Pakistan.

After an edit by User:The dog2 it reads:

... and the ancestor of all the main modern languages of Northern India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, as well as the Sinhala language of Sri Lanka.

We are not an encyclopedia so I think that is far too much detail. I'd happily revert the edit or reduce the sentence to:

The Aryans spoke Sanskrit, the language of the oldest Hindu sacred texts, the Vedas.

If we must mention Sanskrit's descendants and try for completeness (neither of which I think is needed), then:

... and the ancestor of many modern languages in the subcontinent and nearby.
