Merge tag

[edit]

This article is absolutely not a candidate to be merged into Paterson. The merge tag states "nothing to see, nowhere to sleep or eat". Patently untrue. The information about Lincoln Park Lake contained in "Do" should be moved to "See", which takes care of nothing to see; Noches de Colombia is mentioned in "Eat"; and while there's nowhere to sleep in the town, the sleep test is not a hard and fast rule that says any place without a hotel gets merged and redirected - it was intended to help distinguish between places that are towns or very large attractions like Walt Disney World and therefore get articles, and what do not.

More generally, the definition on this site of what constitutes an "unimportant place that should be merged and redirected" has expanded to a scope that is really troubling to me. Some of the points made recently at vfd about Alger (Michigan) were arguable, even if I continue to disagree with them, but Lincoln Park is a whole other ballgame altogether. An article that contains listings (or, in this case, information that could easily be listingified) in "See" and "Do" and "Buy" and "Eat" and "Drink" should never be considered by anyone to be a merge candidate. Failing some pretty damn convincing arguments otherwise, I'll be removing the merge tag soon.

I did wonder why it said "nowhere to eat" in the first place. I literally mentioned something and some random person didn't notice that. I don't get it. I'm pretty much putting in all of the info I know since this is my hometown. I put in the redirect link by the way. Since I really didn't know what I was doing. I'm also going to give the Morris County page a complete makeover. I've already migrated the info to a new page.

Any web pages on private short term rentals around the lake? --Traveler100 (talk) 22:48, 7 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
