I am high school student and i would like to know Why the Holocaust Museum in New York City is a good hihg school trip to go on.

Based on Project:Naming_conventions#Districts, the name of this article should be Manhattan/Lower, not Manhattan/Lower Manhattan. (WT-en) LtPowers 19:00, 14 October 2009 (EDT)

Point taken. But we've been moving away from that in the past year, opting for names that match what people actually call them (which seems like it conflicts with that rule in many cases—no one says, hey, lets go to Lower; Lower Manhattan is the most common name. (Los_Angeles/East seems to me clearly inferior to Los_Angeles/Eastside.) "Lower Manhattan" is not a common name in New York parlance, in my experience. We talk about Downtown Manhattan, the Financial District, the area around City Hall, and The Battery. Ground Zero

Do we have some evidence for the claim that New Yorkers don't call the WTC site "Ground Zero"? They certainly did in the period after the attacks, so while it's plausible that that usage has fallen out of favor, I wonder if it's really done so to such an extent that it needs mentioning. Mainly I was reiterating what had already been on this page for months (maybe even years) prior to my edits yesterday. At first I removed that statement, but then I saw this article today, so I thought I might put it back in. But I have no strong opinions one way or another on this matter. This New Yorker doesn't know any New Yorkers who normally say "Ground Zero." It's visitors from outside the city who seem to always use the term, and most of us hate it. Anecdotal, but there's some evidence for you. (WT-en) Ikan Kekek 01:13, 13 September 2011 (EDT)

Rename to Financial District?

In my experience -- and according to Wikidata and Wikipedia -- "Lower Manhattan" is synonymous with "Downtown Manhattan", whereas we use it to refer to a subdistrict of Downtown Manhattan. (Downtown Manhattan being the lower 'third', distinct from Midtown and Uptown.) The southern tip of Downtown is more often called the Financial District, I think. The de.voy article on the same area is so titled, and I think we should change to match. LtPowers (talk) 14:02, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

I notice there's a discrepancy. On what basis does the Financial District not begin south of Chambers St.? Note w:Financial District, Manhattan, by the way. I think someone made an error that should be corrected. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:14, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
