Hike in
[edit]Get in says "There are no public roads in Nahanni National Park Reserve, visitors must access the park via air or hike in." But if hiking in is a viable option, from where do you do that? There seem to be (major?) roads 50–100 km from the park's border, which isn't unrealistic for somebody contemplating the option, and I suppose there may be minor roads leading closer.
Nahanni Butte ("the nearest town") seems to be less than 20 km from the park border and is, according to Wikipedia, accessible by river taxi from the nearest road. Are there established or recommended routes from there?
The Nahanni Range Road (10) ends just 10 km outside the park, according to our map (at 61.965° N 128.223° W). Is that a viable route? The road starts some 100 km north of Watson Lake along the Robert Campbell Highway (4).
The Mackenzie Highway (1) is farther away (70 km?). Is there some way to come near the eastern parts of the park?
Banner
[edit]I just realized that the current banner (which I added) is from Little Doctor Lake, which is just outside Nahanni National Park Reserve but not actually in the park. Does that disqualify this banner? Brycehughes (talk) 22:00, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I think it would, unless maybe it's visible from within the park. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:26, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Ok I've restored the previous one. Brycehughes (talk) 00:40, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- I've change it to a new one. This one is definitely in the park. Brycehughes (talk) 01:35, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah I think that's a fairly uncontroversial change. --SHB2000 (t | c | m) 01:40, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- That's a beautiful banner, really excellent! Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:32, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
