"Transformation into..."

@Hobbitschuster: I'm not sure that's the right wording for the countries that descend from British, French, or Spanish colonies. For example, saying that the British colonies "transformed into" the U.S. and Canada really isn't accurate, as 1) the British had other colonies in North America, including Belize (among others), and 2) part of Canada was of course once a part of France, as was much of today's U.S. The same goes for claiming that the "Spanish colonies transformed into Mexico," since there are other countries that came from the Spanish Empire, such as many of those south of Mexico, along with Cuba, of course. This isn't a major issue, but it should be represented accurately and fairly. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 15:05, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Couldn't we say, "From this point on, the history of continental North America focuses on the transformation of North America from various European colonies to independent states." That's shorter than the original, contains no factual errors that I can see, and is easy to understand.
