Really nice guide here! Great work! (WT-en) Majnoona 08:39, 5 Nov 2005 (EST)

Alternative banner for this article?

[edit]
old banner currently used in this article
suggested new banner (which is currently used in the parallel article in the Hebrew Wikivoyage)

In the Hebrew Wikivoyage we are currently using this banner instead of the one which is currently used here. Do you think too that this banner would would better than the existing one? ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 01:43, 5 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

The new banner is beautiful and I would indeed vote to substitute it for the current one. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:25, 5 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I don't like the Hebrew one as I find it too clumsy and not working too well as a banner, given the particular colours and contrast/brightness. It is also quite generic, as Poznań's old town does not have any particular features. PrinceGloria (talk) 18:25, 5 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Steam trains

[edit]

I noticed we have a section on steam trains on the Poznań article, but these aren't running currently (Apr 2018), although they were allegedly running in Dec 2017, and sporadically before that. It seems that the main services are operated by Woltur, and it's not clear if they will continue to operate them in future. Should something be done about this section?

Outdated and bloated Eat section

[edit]

There is a huuuge set of restaurants and bars that don't exist anymore or have moved outside city that are listed in this article. Also this section is really huge and could use a little slimming as it mostly lists quite generic places.

Restaurants that do not exist anymore (or so I believe): Bar Cartias, Bar Przysmak, Bar Duo Jeżycki, Bar Pod Kuchcikiem, Podbipięta, Karczma Polska, Oberża pod Dzwonkiem, Sioux Burger (closed before 2017), Sorella, Nalewka, Pod Pretekstem, Pod Złotą Jabłonią, Valpolicella, Villa Magnolia (closed before 2019), Wielkopolska Zagroda

Restaurants that moved outside Poznań: Pieprz i Wanilia, Bistro Pieprz i Sól

Roti moved quite far from city center (Berdychowo 13) and caters now mostly to students, I think it should be removed too. Sphinx is chain restaurant in Poland, every larger city has a few of them. Not sure if it should be included on this list. Krystian55 (talk) 10:43, 15 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thinning out Sleep section

[edit]

Sleep section is huuuge in this article, something around 50 listings. I have already removed most of closed, chain hotels and outright bad places (worker hotels *cough) from list, and remainder are mostly okay generic hotels. However with this amount of hotels the list is pretty much useless and users will prefer to just go on some acommodation site instead. Because of this I aim to reduce this number to about 15-20 and from this point on I will remove hotels that are poorly accessible by both car/public transport (I mean here more than 20 minutes, or no direct connection to reach centre where most tourist attractions are), have few (less than 300 ratings) or poor reviews (below 3 stars on Google Maps), are located in ugly places (near railyards, industrial areas, etc.), have poor amenities nearby (usually overlap with first point), or in general their quality does not justify their price. Replying to my own post. I will increase rating threshold to 1000 reviews and at least 3.5 rating. There are a lot of hotels. Splurge section seems to be good now, Budget is also close to completion. Krystian55 (talk) 18:46, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
That sounds like a good plan. Ground Zero (talk) 19:15, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
