Talk:Siberia
Add topicThis region should be split
[edit]This is not one of the regions in Russia, and should be split into Western Siberia/Northern Russia/Far Eastern Russia by somebody who, unlike me, actually knows what they're doing. (WT-en) Jpatokal 01:04, 30 November 2006 (EST)

Land in Siberia
[edit]What are the laws of land ownership in Siberia? In Mongolia all of the land outside of the major cities is public property and you can settle anywhere. Is it similar in Siberia?
Also, how much money should one bring? How much does lodging and food usually cost?
Europe or Asia?
[edit]I see that one user is repeatedly moving Siberia from Asia into Europe. Does this even make any sense geographically? Is Siberia in Europe? K7L (talk) 02:34, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
- No, it isn't. There's no ambiguity. Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:04, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
Where is this?
[edit]Radiocarbon dating pins date for construction of Uyghur complex to the year 777 looks interesting, a well-preserved archeological site. Article says near Russian-Mongolian border. Pashley (talk) 12:27, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
Related to the Inuit?
[edit]In Understand, we claim that
- "The indigenous Siberians, like most indigenous Asian Russians, are more closely related to Turkic peoples or to the Inuit than to ethnic Russians.
Some groups (or their languages) are related to Turkic peoples, but to the Inuit? The Samoyed languages, which I suppose are what this is about, are classified as Uralic, and I have never seen anybody claim that Finnish and Greenlandic would be related.
Is this the confusion of whether "Siberia" refers to our region or to all Russia east of the Urals (or something similar)? The Chukotko-Kamchatkan languages are indeed sometimes claimed to be related to the Inuit languages. The mention of Inuit was added by an IP user back in 2016.
