Update[edit]

As this page has been populated, it feels like it covers the rest of the South Sandwich Islands in enough detail. I therefore propose re-directing that page to SGSSI. Grahamsands (talk) 14:33, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This page was originally created automatically by the CIA World Factbook import and exists primarily since the two island groups are an administrative region of the UK. If we were creating the pages from scratch today I don't think this page would have been created since it's an arbitrary grouping (we wouldn't create a page for "Hawaii and Midway Island", for example), so I'd lean towards keeping the separate pages for South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands and then have this page redirect to Sub-Antarctic Islands. That said, there isn't going to be a lot to write about the South Sandwich Islands, South Orkney islands, etc, so I don't feel strongly on the matter. -- Ryan • (talk) • 16:07, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I did consider doing it that way round, populating SSI and hollowing out SGSSI. However it seemed more natural to populate SGSSI and regard SSI as their chilly coda, sufficiently described as "See" paragraphs. A tour of them would always be combined with a tour of SG (eg you may be required to physically check in at Grytviken), but not vice versa. Grahamsands (talk) 10:35, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
