Talk:Sydney/Parramatta

From Wikivoyage

Should this article be combined with the existing article in wikivoyage Parramatta? Seems to be a fair bit of duplication and may cause confusion.

Auto Alley[edit]

Probably not of interest to the traveler who is not planning to buy a car. We don't generally have lists of car yards for other cities. If it is necessary, I'm suggesting we move this information to Buying or renting a car in Australia (or omit it entirely). --(WT-en) Inas 17:29, 23 November 2008 (EST)

Hotels by area..[edit]

All the hotels in the listing are within 5 minutes drive of each other, and I don't think it helps the article to separate them by area. Too many subheadings for too few hotels. I think its sufficient just to note that location in the listing.

Also, the formatting needs to be fixed, so I'll do both at the same time, unless anybody has any better ideas. --(WT-en) Inas 21:40, 23 November 2008 (EST)

Maybe give the area a name and list some of the hotels and describe it. Keep Smiling, (WT-en) edmontonenthusiast [ee] .T.A.L.K. 21:46, 23 November 2008 (EST).
I don't really understand what you are trying to say. Rydges Parramatta is around 2km from the Parramatta railway station. A few minutes drive, or about 30 minutes walk. This information deserves to be mentioned in the listing, but I don't think it needs a separate area heading just because it is this far from central. --(WT-en) Inas 22:05, 23 November 2008 (EST)

Banner 0
Banner 1

While Parramatta is Sydney's third CBD and it would make sense to have a banner of its skylines, how about a banner of the Old Government House? It's one of my favo(u)rite buildings in the region and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 22:17, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@SHB2000 - I do like the government house banner - although I still feel the existing banner is much more reflective of Parramatta to vistors. It is hard to think of a picture that shows the historic with the new however. Andrewssi2 (talk) 00:10, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Andrewssi2: Yeah I definitely agree with you there. In restrospect, though, the current banner is quite out-of-date as many new skyscrapers have popped up in the last few years. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 08:26, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I was thinking that today as I sat looking at this scene from my office window. I would take a picture, but my office lacks an observation deck Andrewssi2 (talk) 09:29, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
:-(
In hindsight, though, I'd love to see a banner of the skyline as viewed from the elevated pink freeway bridge at Granville (M4) but I don't imagine taking photos there would be easy. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 09:44, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
