Is this article needed?

Per the Airport Expedition, only huge airports whose articles can fill out entire Eat and Buy sections with listings should have articles. So why couldn't this just be the Tirana#By plane section? Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:25, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Also, one of the major points of having airport articles is that a large part of the passengers are changing planes, often involving at least one long-haul flight. For Tirana I'm pretty sure that almost everyone using the airport is going to or coming from Tirana or Albania. --Ypsilon (talk) 20:44, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Objection.

I moved the information out of the Tirana article because it was getting harder to read the Tirana article with all this information about the airport there. And since Tirana can't hardly be split into districts, I thought it would be better to have it optimised there.

Also, this is the region's and the country's main airport. There is currently a lot of construction going on around the runway, so it looks like it might be expanding. Furthermore, they are constructing a railway to connect the airport to Durres and Tirana downtown. Beside that there is a highway bypass from Shkoder being build, to bypass Kamza, contributing further to the expansion of the airport. All this additional information and development on the way, I believe it wouldn't help size-wise inside the Tirana article. With tourism picking up last and this year, I doubt there is any going back:

I have now added the main restaurants and cafés at the airport. If the article needs further expansion to qualify for its existence, please tell me where.

My reaction is that I feel like if the list of airlines were excised from this article, it could easily fit in Tirana#By plane, and I don't think there's any important reason to have a list that mentions every airline that flies to this airport, as people wanting to fly there will check flight websites. 3 eateries, 1 "Drink," no "Buy" and 3 hotels are not what's envisioned in a "Huge airport" article. If and when the airport is expanded and has like 15-20 eateries, a similar number of stores, etc., we can revisit this. As it is, w:Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza served 7.2 million passengers in 2023, and w:Bradley International Airport, the airport for Hartford and Springfield, Connecticut and Massachusetts, which served 6,248,165 passengers in 2023 and more through the end of September this year, is also expanding, and already appears to have more shops and restaurants, will probably never have its own article on this site. Also, we are not going to and shouldn't have an article for every airport that happens to be the biggest in a country, or else we'll end up with an "Andorra International Airport" article.
