Template[edit]

A template has been placed which states:

Since the image at full size is 5,935 × 800 pixels - a ratio of 7.419 to 1 - why is this so vital please? --118.93nzp (talk) 02:08, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Um. Because 7.419 is not equal to 7 and because it's really very simple to just crop it, which I have just done, so that all banners are all the same height. Texugo (talk) 14:50, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Guide and OtBP?[edit]

As there are information about getting in, and attractions, eateries and hotels are listed, I just promoted the article status to usable. I'm not saying that it's necessarily a guide yet, but given Ukulha's small size, I guess we have already listed most points of interest. Also, the Wikipedia article of Ukulhas is allegedly "written like a travel guide rather than an encyclopedic description of the subject" so we can likely bring over a great deal of useful stuff from there.

Right now we're looking for OtBP destinations for the Northern Hemisphere 2017-18 winter months, and per the Weather section that seems to be the best time of the year to visit Ukulhas. Comments? --ϒpsilon (talk) 20:43, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

According to Google Maps and this travel story from late 2016, I think we have the island quite well covered. That was really the only comprehensive travel site about the island that wasn't affiliated with some specific guest house/hotels. It says "guest houses offer a wide range of activities" (seems to be the case when looking at different guest houses' webpages), "there are few shops on the island, literally 4-5, and the assortment is quite limited" (pretty much what we say too) and "food services are represented by only 3 cafes" (we list 5, I would guess hotels serve food too). We list 4 accommodations, and on Google maps I can see 7 (though the travel story said "Today there are 10 guest houses on the island. More guest houses will be opened soon"). Dare we upgrade the article to guide status already? --ϒpsilon (talk) 19:27, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Will now promote to guide and nominate it for OtBP per above monologue and subsequent edits. ϒpsilon (talk) 19:46, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I looked through and copy edited the article through the end of "See". Looks very good. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:58, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Negative restaurant review[edit]

Ikan removed a listing for a restaurant with reportedly bad food, rude staff etc. But as Ukulhas is a small island with just a couple of places to eat, it's likely that people spending a few days there will stumble upon this restaurant anyway. Also Wikivoyage:Avoid negative reviews says a place we wouldn't otherwise recommend can be listed if "the place is the only one or one of very few options in town - state the venue's problems and let our readers make an informed choice". ϒpsilon (talk) 17:38, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the comment that "It constantly gets bad reviews on a rating sites. Long waiting time, rude personnel, not tasty food" seems to be false. It had 19 Trip Advisor reviews with an average rating of 3*, spread fairly evenly across the 1*-5* range. It has 8 Google reviews with an average of 3.6*, split four 5*, one 3* and three 3*. This isn't the best place around, but it seems like the one review we're basing out decision on is either out of date or the opinion of one disgruntled customer. Ground Zero (talk) 19:42, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

So, what do we do, then? Do we make the description more neutral or do we reinstate the more negative wording? Or do we leave out the listing entirely? Hobbitschuster (talk) 20:09, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The first one. We can leave out the description and just report the location. Ground Zero (talk) 20:37, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The description used to read: "This restaurant severs varieties of hot and cool drinks such as orange Juice, lemon Juice, papaya juice, coconut drinks etc. This place also sells many types of fizzy drinks such as coca cola, Fanta orange, Sprite, energy drinks etc." It was changed to the negative review by @Kiaora:, who is a regular contributor -- maybe s/he visited there and had a bad experience, but I still struggle with the comment about bad reviews on ratings sites which is not supported by looking at the two biggest review sites.
