Talk:Vegreville
IsPartOf issue
[edit]This is now being called part of Kalyna Country, but that article is a city article, and not a districted city article. If Kalyna Country is going to be turned into a region article, all of its territory has to be divided into separate articles with city templates and all of the specific listings in that article will have to be moved to those city articles. An alternative, if Vegreville is part of Kalyna Country, is to merge and redirect this article to the Kalyna Country article. But what this site's breadcrumb navigation structure doesn't allow is incomplete division of regions, because that creates a mess. I welcome the input of User:Kevlar67, User:Ground Zero, User:MuzikMachine, User:Shaundd and any other Canadians or other interested parties I didn't think of. - I live in Alberta and drove from Edmonton to Saskatoon last summer. Vegreville is well signed along Hwy 16 and shows up on most maps. Kalyna Country is a tourist region, but is something that visitor might not be able to easily recognize as it's not a municipal entity (i.e. there's no town of Kalyna, the rural municipality surrounding Vegreville is Minburn County). I would support Kalyna as a separate region or a sub-category of Eastern Alberta, but the Vegreville city article should remain separate. -- MuzikMachine (talk) 19:56, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
- Is Vegreville part of Kalyna Country, though? If so, what would you do with the rest of its land in terms of articles? Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:15, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
- Kalyna Country is a rural area article not a region, Vegreville is its own settlement article. Both are under this sites notation a city article in the region of Wast Alberta. Idea is not to follow administrative structures and end up with regions with just one or two articles. --Traveler100 (talk) 06:11, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. So it sounds like it's not correct for the IsPartOf of this article to be Kalyna Country. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:24, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
- I agree the breadcrumb should direct to Eastern Alberta for the reasons Traveller100 said above. There's discussion at Talk:Alberta about whether there should be subregions, of which Kalyna Country could be one, but it's early stages. If changes come out of that discussion, the breadcrumb would be changed then. -Shaundd (talk) 17:30, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:58, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
