Wrong coordinates[edit]

@SelfieCity, Ground Zero: I've finally found out why the coordinates are messed up, and the answer is quite complicated. Unfortunately, with the numbers they've provided, some are still not in Yenagoa, but are in Nigeria and not the UK or Svalbard.

  1. Decimal points mixed up (e.g. 7.56 was written as 75.6)
  2. Latitude and longitude, as you mentioned, is a common mistake
  3. The coordinates are too broad. (e.g. 7.2 covers a large area, and it needs to be to the nearest 4 or 5 d.p.)

This might be the reason for some of the incorrect coordinates for some other articles, but some like Oguta or Damatru are stacked on top, so that's not the exact case. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 08:00, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
