Hello, コイコイ! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals. Please take a look at wycsi and Image policy and consider moving "sport" to the Do section. Regards, Ibaman (talk) 15:13, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
Thank you Ibaman for pointing that out. Please let me know if there are any other issues.--コイコイ (talk) 15:30, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- the Understand and Get Around sections could benefit of some text, the Do/Buy/Eat/Drink listings need geocoords, the Get In section could use some markers. Aside this, the Machida page looks very good, your edits are appreciated. Be welcome to contribute. Ibaman (talk) 16:38, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- Don't worry about grammar errors and spelling mistakes. We are happy to have contributions to our Japan articles from a native Japanese person, and will correct any mistakes. Welcome to English Wikivoyage. Ground Zero (talk) 21:33, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
Shogi
[edit]Just wondering, how much do you know about shogi? I think that will be a good article to start for those interested in going to Japan to play shogi, or watch a shogi tournament. I know a little bit about it, but I am not very experienced, so it would be nice if you could help out with that. The dog2 (talk) 18:45, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
I also only know the basics about shogi. I did a little research on shogi tournaments and tourism.
- There was an international tournament every three years, the International Shogi Forum "International Shogi Tournament". https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/国際将棋フォーラム
- I found some tournaments in the Nihon Shogi Renmei (Japan Shogi Federation) and they seem to be for members. It seems that there are overseas branches, so maybe we can participate in these tournaments. https://www.shogi.or.jp/branch/oversea.html
- As for tourism, Tendo City in Yamagata Prefecture is famous for its production of shogi pieces, and is also famous for the human shogi(Ningen Shogi) game held at festivals. https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/人間将棋 https://www.city.tendo.yamagata.jp/tourism/
- You can stay in a room where the "Ryu oh sen", the most prestigious title game in the world of shogi, is held. https://www.takinoyu.com/rooms/ryuonoma/
If this kind of information is sufficient, we can help.--コイコイ (talk) 08:42, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
Please do not type all in capital letters
[edit]Please do not type a business name all in capital letters, even if the business does that. Typing all in capital letters on the internet is considered to be rude in English. It is like shouting at the reader.
Capital letters should only be used for acronyms, e.g., we write "NHK Educational TV", not "NHK EDUCATIONAL TV". Here, "Educational" is a word, while "NHK" and "TV" are acronyms. Wv:capitalization has more information. Thank you. Ground Zero (talk) 14:01, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for pointing that out. Yes, sir. --コイコイ (talk) 14:08, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
Other articles
[edit]Just so you know, we have other articles such as Purchasing a kimono and Japanese cuisine, so please feel free to work on them. I also recent creating an article called Western food in Asia, and there is a section on Japan, so please contribute if you can. As you can see from my profile, I am able to speak some Japanese, so if you need any help with translating anything, I'd be happy to have a look and help you if I can. Thank you for message. I'm glad you can help me when I'm having trouble translating.--コイコイ (talk) 08:52, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
