Adding galleries[edit]

Hi 123.208.211.136, please take the time to read Wikivoyage:Image policy#Montages and galleries, in particular, "Image galleries are discouraged, and should only be considered for showing multiple examples of a specific topic (for example, in describing flora and fauna or cuisine – but not attractions). Image galleries should not be used solely as a way to include a large number of different pictures in a destination article". I had to remove a bunch of galleries you added since these violate policy and Wikivoyage is a travel guide, not a gallery for hosting road signs. Travellers will often be using Wikivoyage in areas with poor network coverage, and adding excess images chew up data, so again, please take the time to read Wikivoyage:Image policy. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 12:31, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please reply. It's not clear all those signs help that much. Aren't many of them obvious? Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:53, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked for being an LTA per commons. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:12, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can see the merit for a non-English speaking country, but most signs that this user has been adding are pretty obvious (e.g. give way/yield or stop signs), but even those violate our image policy, and Wikivoyage is a travel guide, not a guide for hosting road signs. They arguably don't violate the exception of "multiple examples of a specific topic," but I don't see why we need lots of pictures of signs that are easily understandable in every country article. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:03, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly – galleries can be used to illustrate points that aren't the most easiest to describe in words, but road signs are almost universal throughout the world (from my experience). Also, it's worth having a look at c:User talk:123.208.211.136 and their contributions on Commons, because it's very unlikely a brand new user knows how to meddle with experienced interface (for that matter, it took me almost two weeks to fully understand how <gallery> tags work), and that smells of an LTA. This doesn't mean that all such galleries should be removed. About road signs being universal, what about countries not following the convention? Are European signs like those in the USA? –LPfi (talk) 12:15, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Long-term abusers and vandals don't have the privilege of editing. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 12:24, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
European signs can be dealt with in an article about Europe as a whole, not, for example, Denmark. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:36, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Probably something to discuss at Talk:Driving in Europe. I don't know what signs are confusing. Some of the galleries 123.208.211.136 now removed were quite suitable layout-wise, and I don't think they should have been outright deleted, at least not without an edit summary. –LPfi (talk) 00:48, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Image changes[edit]

Please use edit summaries and the talk page to explain what you are doing, when changing, adding and removing images. It is very hard to see whether the changes are improvements when you don't tell your thoughts about them. –LPfi (talk) 08:11, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
