[edit]Hello, Adeleone! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.
Thanks for contributing. Please note that individual businesses do not get their own articles, but you are welcome to add a non-promotional listing to an existing article. You may want to read WV:Don't tout first, which provides advice for business owners. If you have questions you can ask them on this talk page or in the Pub. -- Ryan • (talk) • 06:38, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
Wikivoyage article templates
[edit]Hello, and thanks for creating the Waigeo article. First, I hope that you have not copied any part of it verbatim from any other site without crediting it, as that is plagiarism and not acceptable. But assuming you have not done this: It's immediately obvious to anyone familiar with Wikivoyage article templates that you have not used one. In all likelihood, you should structure this article with the Small city article template. Please look at that template and (again, assuming you haven't plagiarized) restructure the Waigeo article accordingly. If you did commit plagiarism, make sure you delete all plagiarized sections, up to and including the entire article if necessary.
Let us know if you have any questions. Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:23, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
You're also touting now. This is not how to add a "Sleep" listing in this guide, and you also tried to add an irregular "Resort" section to Papua, a big region guide which should not get any specific "Sleep" listings. Since it seems obvious that you've been ignoring your user talk page and, therefore, creating unnecessary work for other editors (you still haven't fixed the template of Waigeo, meaning that you've also ignored the "style" tag at the top of the article), your posting privileges are being blocked for 24 hours to get your attention. However, your ability to post to this talk page is not affected. If you reply to this post during the time you are blocked, your block time can be ended early. Copyright violation
[edit]I just did web searches on the contents of the Waigeo article. You plagiarized the lede from w:Waigeo. It has been edited, and my edit summary will credit the Wikipedia article, so that's OK under the terms of the license and the policies of both Wikipedia and Wikivoyage. However, most of the rest was plagiarized from this site, which is expressly copyrighted. That is not acceptable at all. All that text had to be summarily deleted. You may paraphrase or summarize content from a copyrighted site, but you may not copy and paste from one. Furthermore, the entire article was up at Wikitravel. It is not only a violation of copyleft to copy from Wikivoyage without crediting that site or mentioning that you also put the same content up there, but it is also a very bad idea because of the history of legal action between Internet Brands and the Wikimedia Foundation; you can read a little about that history at Wikivoyage:Wikivoyage and Wikitravel. The result of all of this is that most of the article had to be deleted.
When you return from your suspension, it will be very important for you to reply to this post, showing that you read it, and you will need to reconstruct the Waigeo article without plagiarism or copy-pasting from copyrighted sites like East-Indonesia.info and within the structure of the Wikivoyage:Small city article template, which I have put into the article.
Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:18, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
- You again violated the copyright of a copyrighted site by copying and pasting from it, this time in Mu Ko Surin National Park. You've been blocked for 31 hours, and I will start a thread in Wikivoyage:User ban nominations to put everyone on notice that your next block, if you continue this behavior, should be 3 days, with increasingly lengthy blocks following that, if necessary. Please stop, and read this page! Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:15, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
