Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Aknonymm..! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.

I'm not sure what you were trying to do with your edits, but would suggest that a brand new user such as yourself would be better off trying out your editing skills on a smaller page before you fiddle around with regions: pick a destination article, say Thasos (or any other destination of your choosing), and see what you can do to improve it. Please let me know if you have any questions.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 21:48, 14 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello,
Yes, I just created an account here because I'd seen some incorrect information on a few pages a while ago.
The region and island classification in the pages "Greece" and "Greek islands" respectively were not proper.
In the category "Northern Greece" there is the place "Ioannina", which is Epirus, and it is included in that section as well.
After I changed them, I realised that there were no pages with the titles that I put and then tried to alter the titles of the corresponding pages.
For example, I tried to change Soprades to Northern Sporades, as is the correct name.
But apparently that can't be done from within the article, so I'll probably have to, I don't know, create new pages and redirect the old :ones?
And there is a problem with the maps as well, because they correspond to the wrong classifications and I don't know if I can even change :them.
But I did know what I was writing, I am Greek.
I know that my experience with editing pages is limited, but the page is supposed to provide information (with correct spelling), and if that's not entirely correct, then the page loses some of its use.--Aknonymm.. (talk) 00:50, 16 June 2020 (EEST)
It's OK. I'd recommend first that you create the region articles you would prefer, and then once you've created those pages, a discussion can take place to change the region structure. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 21:53, 15 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I'd agree with the idea to create drafts of what you're envisaging, and you could even tentatively start a discussion at Talk:Greece right away, to gauge the mood of the community. I'm not questioning your expertise on Greece, but changing the regional structure of an entire country is no small matter, and you should be aware of that before you commit to doing it.--ThunderingTyphoons!
