Hello, Astronomi06! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.--Ypsilon (talk) 11:29, 27 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for helping to improve Wikivoyage's Albania and Kosovo articles. Your contributions will help readers who are thinking about travelling to Albania and Kosovo, and those who are planning trips there. I hope you can continue to help improve these articles. Thanks, but do read Wikivoyage:Don't tout

Some of the edits here are problematic. I'll pick out a few examples of problematic text:

"everyone has the possibility to find everything he needs in one place"

Someone might need a hospital or a musical instrument repair shop. It's best to just describe what's there and not market it as ideally complete for everyone in the world.

"Hotel Marub provides eco-friendly accommodation in the district of Mirdita"

Is that copied from a promotional site? The very first sentence of the article states that "Lezhë is a small city in Albania and part of the historic Mirdita region", so no hotel listing should mention that the hotel is in Mirdita.

"Hotel Marub values environmental protection, careful use of water and recycling."

It's definitely great if they do, but in the context of a hotel listing, that reads like promotional text. Best to describe the patron's experience and leave it to the hotel to promote themselves.

"The hotel is about 2 km from State Road SH30. The Adriatic Sea and the town of Lezhë are within 30 km from Marub Hotel. Tirana can be reached within 70 km."

This is in the category of what's considered location touting on this site. If a hotel is directly across the street from an important sight, that should be mentioned in "directions". Being 2 km from SH30 is OK to mention if the directions explain how to get there from that route. The rest is relevant to the entire destination, not the hotel in particular.

Some other things for you to think about:

(1) https://lezhe.albania-discover.com is a commercial portal, so I think that linking it is not likely to be in keeping with the what not to link to guidelines, but you can always argue for an exception at Talk:Albania, explaining how it's really important for travellers.

(2) On this site, we don't include the name of the city (if it's the article title) or country in addresses, only the street address.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and thanks again.

All the best,

Thanks a lot for your contributions to those articles. However, there were several issues that I would like to share with you:

  • Banners should have a size with the ratio of 7:1 per wv:Banners. When a banner gets changed without discussion, and more importantly a banner that doesn't conform to the said size replaces another that does, it's likely to get reverted, even if the new image is prettier.
  • Addresses shouldn't include town and country names, and postal codes per wv:Listings#Template parameters.
  • Please be careful when you insert coordinates to the listings, and try not to duplicate them. Otherwise, it's almost impossible to know which listing has the correct coordinates without local knowledge, and they all need to be removed.

Thanks for your collaboration. Vidimian (talk) 16:35, 21 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
