Hello, Chintanvarma! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. Khambhat?[edit]

I notice you are from Gujarat and editing some pages there. I recently created Khambhat to eliminate a red link in On the trail of Marco Polo, but it is just a stub. Is that something you might help with? WP says at one time it was "one of India’s main two ocean ports", so it seems worth more than I have given it. Pashley (talk) 17:14, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, ya, I would love to do that, though I have no idea about Khambat (earlier Cambay), as the major ports of Gujarat are Mundra, Alang, Hazira, etc. but as soon as my exams get over, I'll start researching on the topic ! Chintan Varma

Hi Chintan Varma, thanks for districtifying Ahmedabad. I've created the district articles so that all of the listings can be moved to their relevant district article. --Saqib (talk) 10:27, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sure..but I just changed their names in listings, so can you please make the new ones? Thanks --Chintanvarma(talk)

Yes Done, By the way, New West Zone is not official. Right? --Saqib (talk) 10:39, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's actually official. http://www.egovamc.com/corporation/frmzonal_info.aspx (Btw, Amdavad is the Gujarati name of Ahmedabad) --Chintanvarma(talk)

Okay. Keep contributing your good work. I also wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account. I hope you'll keep continue to contribute constructively to Wikivoyage. Happy editing and happy travels. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. --Saqib (talk) 13:24, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. Thanks a lot. I will definitely contribute. Chintanvarma (talk) 14:44, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, thanks for your additions, they are much welcomed. However, be wary of adding similar listings. In Ahmedabad/West_Zone#Eat, you've added six Subways, three McDonald's, and three Sankalps, that's not very helpful to the traveler visiting. Add one listing for each of these—also, it'd be even better if you'd list unique places a traveler might want to visit instead of chain stores and fast-food stores that exist globally. Globe-trotter (talk) 01:29, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ya, I do realize that a traveller must know specials rather than globally existing brands. But there were 2 reasons for these listings: 1) In India, Subway, McDonald's have different experiences than in their international counterparts esp. the Vegetarian cuisine 2) There might be a time when a traveller is tired of eating very spicy local food and might actually want to go to Subway etc. Another reason he might want to go to these chain stores is to ensure quality food (even though quality of food is pretty good in local shops).

P.S. I'll also add local listings, but I believe the chain listings need to be there, in case someone wishes to dine in such outlets. Chintanvarma (talk) 01:37, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! You reverted my edit in the India article and i suppose you are the same person as the anon IP who originally entered the text. We have policies that restrict listings of more than nine items. Please read a bit about our Policies and don't reenter it. jan (talk) 14:06, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ya, I had not logged in then. Btw, the nine items thing wasn't written there 'nine of the most notable', so I guessed that the particular section of 'See' doesn't have that rule. BUT, there are already more than 9 in the list. Why don't you remove the extra ones ? Why did you remove my edit only ? Chintanvarma (talk) 14:19, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted your because actually you added to city names and in see it is about attractions. E.g. the list includes the Taj Mahal but not Agra. If there is a specific monument of interest for travellers then we do need to discuss which is more important, interesting etc. but simply a city name is not enough. Make your point with more than just a name. jan (talk) 14:33, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, so I guess I can add attraction rather than the city. The limit of 9 doesn't apply there. Chintanvarma (talk) 14:36, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please be specific, use the template and explain the interest from a travellers point of view. Also keep in mind that more than one attraction is in going to be deleted as this is the country article. jan (talk) 14:44, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
