Greeting

[edit]

Hello, Peter011008! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.

It is good to see more contributors for China. Thank you & welcome indeed.

Your article for Longquanyi has some problems. Most obviously, it lacks the usual headings -- Get in, Eat, Sleep, etc. -- and the usual IsPartOf tag that would give a "breadcrumb" series of links at the top.

China -> West China -> Sichuan -> Chengdu -> Longquanyi

More important, it is a district of Chengdu so perhaps it should be at Chengdu/Longquanyi rather than just Longquanyi, and there should be discussion at Talk:Chengdu to agree on an appropriate overall district structure for the city before district articles are created. I'd urge you to start that discussion.

Note that it is not the case that official districts necessarily get their own articles here; our concern is to create districts that are useful for travellers. Some examples from the parts of China I know:

  • Xiamen#Understand has a map showing the official districts but only some of them get separate articles. Huli District and Siming District do not; most of those are treated together in the Xiamen article while Gulangyu (administratively part of Siming) gets its own article.
  • Fuzhou#Districts and Quanzhou#Districts show the commonest WV article structure; downtown districts do not have articles but important suburbs do. The discussion at Talk:Fuzhou#Districts? got rather messy.

My guess would be that Chengdu needs a district structure along those lines. Pashley (talk) 12:52, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Pashley, I've posted my personal thoughts on Talk:Chengdu, thanks for your suggestions and guidance. I will make changes later if people agree to make it. I'll change it later if everyone agrees to make it. Peter011008 (talk) 03:55, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Great. Thanks. Pashley (talk) 13:16, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Listings

[edit]

Thank you for you contributions to the Longquanyi article. In the article about Longquanyi, we don't include "Longquanyi District, Chengdu, China" in the addresses of listings. The reader already knows this.

Also, we always include the country code (+86 for China) in phone numbers.

Please make these changes. Thank you. Ground Zero (talk) 06:47, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi,Ground Zero,
Thanks for the suggestion, I've made the change. Peter011008 (talk) 07:48, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
No, you haven't. You must remove "Longquanyi District, Chengdu, China" from the listings. It is obvious that these places are in Longquanyi because they are in the Longquanyi article. Please follow Wikivoyage policy. Ground Zero (talk) 07:59, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I misunderstood and I even added Chengdu Longquanyi District which was not added before. I have now made two changes, please let me know if they are correct and if so, I will make all the changes. Peter011008 (talk) 08:04, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Peter, thank you for making those changes. Ground Zero (talk) 08:22, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
