Welcome[edit]

Hello Rachel.zrq! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian, then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the Wikivoyage:Travellers' pub, as a reply below or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!

Thank you for your edits to the Xi'an article, but do consider what is of interest and use to travelers and have a look at my edit summary, which touches on Wikivoyage:Avoid long lists. A complete list of districts in Xi'an would be relevant in an encyclopedia like Wikipedia, but without explanations of what to do or see in each district or how to recognize which district you're in, it's mere padding in a travel guide.

All the best,

Question[edit]

You added Sanli Street in the Jinjiang article. Thanks, but why would anyone want to go there? Shopping? Scenic buildings? Entertainment? Food? ...? I do not think the listing is useful without some indication of that. Pashley (talk) 01:59, 15 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Pashley Thank you for your question. Because Sanli Street is a famous local place and has a long history. There are many local snacks in Sanli Street, which is well worth visiting. Rachel.zrq (talk) 03:47, 15 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Rachel.zrq Good answer - please make sure the Sanli Street listing mentions this! Piotrus (talk) 05:48, 16 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

What does and does not get an article[edit]

Hi, Rachel.zrq. Huaqing Palace does not get its own article on this site, only a listing in Xi'an#See. Please read Wikivoyage:What is an article. Thanks, and let us know if you have any questions.

Best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:01, 15 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan Kekek Good advice, thank you. But why isn't Huaqing Palace a redirect? Does Wikivoyage dislike those? Piotrus (talk) 06:21, 16 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
