Hello, Revanth Yadav 116! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.

We usually do not split up cities into districts unless the articles are so large that there is too much content for one page. This clearly doesn't apply yet to Warangal. I'm afraid the districts will have to go. Please feel free to add whatever content you want to add on Hanamkonda and Kazipet to that article.

This is because we are a travel guide, not an encyclopedia. Judging by the highway and station links and citation templates you added, you may be more used to their policies. We do not use any of those things, and, generally, only cities get their own bottom-level pages here - see Wikivoyage:Geographical hierarchy. Feel free to ask any questions here and an experienced editor will get back to you. ARR8 (talk | contribs) 17:06, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Redistricting[edit]

Hi, Revanth Yadav 116. I appreciate that you're doing work on this site's coverage of Hyderabad. We need that. But please do not change the names of districts by yourself. Instead, please post a proposal for what you'd like to change and why on the Talk:Hyderabad and wait for a discussion to take place. Since you presumably know the city well, there's a decent likelihood that your viewpoint could prevail, but be patient and wait for the discussion to play out before you make these kinds of edits. Thanks a lot, and I'll see you on that talk page.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:05, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I really really don't want to block you for edit warring. Please start that thread at Talk:Hyderabad. Make just the argument you made here. And be patient and wait for the discussion to play out in a consensus for your point of view before making these kinds of edits again. Thank you! Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:23, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And when you post your argument, remember that Wikivoyage districting is whatever best serves the traveller, not necessarily how the city government divides the city up. So your argument must address how using the city government's districts best serves the traveller. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:27, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

I so regret that this is necessary, but you've been blocked from editing any page except this one for an initial period of 3 days for edit warring and ignoring this page and edit summaries. I really would value your participation, if you would just post your proposals for changes in district names and boundaries at Talk:Hyderabad, as I've mentioned several times, but you simply can't do those things unilaterally. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:23, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

At Present Now Hyderabad Is Divided into Five Districts , They are first Old City district, New City or Hyderabad Central Osmania University Area is excluded, North East Hyderabad in this Secunderabad Contonment Area is excluded from Northeast Hyderabad But half of the Contonment is now present in the city center of Secunderabad, East Hyderabad, West Hyderabad, North Hyderabad. Revanth Yadav 116, thanks for offering a statement, but as I've mentioned, you need to make a proposal at Talk:Hyderabad, not here, and your proposal has to be argued to be the best way to serve the interests of the traveller. We don't necessarily follow official districts or boundaries. Also, I find it very hard to believe your spelling, "Contonment" is right. Are you really dead sure it's not "Cantonment"? Many places in India are called "[Name] Cantonment". But getting back to the main point: Each district needs to have a sufficient number of points of interest to a traveller to be a useful article, but not too many. So your proposal should give readers a rough idea of how many "See", "Do", "Eat", "Drink", "Buy" and "Sleep" listings you'd expect to be in each of the new district articles. You will also need to propose borders between them, because if a new districting scheme is adopted, that will require new maps.
If you want your block ended early, so that you can post a proposal at Talk:Hyderabad, I'd be happy to facilitate that, as long as you promise not to change any district names until or unless your proposals are adopted by consensus. Do I have your promise to abide by the Wiki way of and work cooperatively with others, by consensus? Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:29, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
