Hello, Tristanhauck! Thank you for contributing to Wikivoyage, but please note that one or more of your recent edits has been reverted as it appeared to be an attempt to use this site to advertise or promote a business or service. Wikivoyage is created by travellers for travellers, and while business owners and employees are welcome to contribute, use of this site for promotional purposes is not allowed.

If you feel that your edits were incorrectly identified as promotional, please read Wikivoyage's guidelines on identifying promotional edits. If, after reading that guideline, you still feel your edits were incorrectly removed, please use this talk page or the talk page of the article where your edit was removed to explain why your change was not promotional. Note that it is very important that you discuss your proposed change before re-adding it since repeated promotional edits can lead to a temporary block of your account's ability to edit Wikivoyage, and in serious cases the business in question may be blacklisted from Wikivoyage. Hi Ibaman, my edits to Chicago/Loop for Hotel Allegro were to update the name of the hotel, website and phone number as the current information is incorrect. Please let me know if this information can be updated to reflect the current name, website and phone number as "Hotel Allegro" has changed to "The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop". Thanks! Hi. Please re-read Wikivoyage:Don't tout. Since you clearly work for Sonesta, you are not allowed to add any new listings for the chain. Look at that page to see where and how you can propose new listings. Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:43, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Given you continued to tout, I've blocked your account for three days. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 21:49, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We could cut him a little slack, since the latest listings didn't have touting language in them. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:33, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway, 3 days is enough to reflect. It's not an indef block. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 22:37, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
True. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:39, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, Tristanhauck, since no-one directly answered your question about the hotel in the Loop: Yes, paid publicists (etc.) are permitted and encouraged to make objectively factual changes to listings for chains they work for; they just can't add any new listings or descriptions to destination articles. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:41, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thank you for the clarification @Ikan Kekek Tristanhauck (talk) 14:55, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sure thing. Let us know when you've had a chance to read Wikivoyage:Don't tout in full, making sure to read the "Marketers and SEOs" section carefully. I'd be happy to end your block when you have. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:48, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah give me a ping once you've read it. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 01:52, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ikan Kekek @SHB2000 I have read the "Marketers and SEOs" section and understand the rules now. Apologies for the misunderstanding. Tristanhauck (talk) 14:19, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, and thanks for working with us. I've unblocked your account. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:31, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
