The name[edit]

I must admit the name of this district is not exactly poetic or inspired. I mostly came up with it as a generic placeholder. Is there a better name? Hobbitschuster (talk) 14:20, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Tempelhof-Schöneberg and Neukölln"? Hardly original, but at least it tells you which neighbourhoods to expect.
Alternatively, isn't Berlin split into boroughs? If so, does this district conform to the boundaries of one of them? --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 14:37, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
those are the boroughs. Neukölln is one; Tempelhof-Schöneberg the other. But having them all mentioned in the name results in a pretty long name Hobbitschuster (talk) 14:53, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. But then neither does London/Notting Hill-North Kensington, yet it still tells you what to expect. --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 14:56, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

We most likely need a new pagebanner, how about one that incorporates the areal of Tempelhof Airport? Hobbitschuster (talk) 14:21, 27 February 2018

here is the commons category Hobbitschuster (talk) 14:31, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Might these two images help?

Removed airport information[edit]

Regarding this edit I raised a discussion in the pub. Regardless of its outcome, mightn't it still be advantagoues to our readers to have the airport show up on the map here? Hobbitschuster (talk) 03:32, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bezirk and Ortsteil[edit]

It appears that previously "Neukölln" in this article was understood to mean the Bezirk of that name. With the moving of some listings to "further afield" it seems that it has now quietly come to mean only the Ortsteil. I must ask whether this is wise... Hobbitschuster (talk) 10:45, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

From a traveler's perspective I think this is more useful. A traveler is most likely going to spend some time in the part of Neukölln that is within the Ringbahn (and therefore overlaps mostly with the Ortsteil). If they really wanted to venture further afield, then they can quickly identify listings relevant for that. However, I agree that the introduction text in "Understand" is somewhat confusing then: "Neukölln is a district of Berlin. It consists of four sub-districts (Britz, Buckow, Rudow and Neukölln"). See also under Talk:Berlin for the dizzyingly inconsitent translations of those two terms used throughout the Berlin guides... Hobbitschuster (talk) 21:38, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
