To Guide and DotM/OtbP?

[edit]

What would be missing to make this guide-ranked and a candidate for featuring? Hobbitschuster (talk) 17:35, 29 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

This article should probably be merged into Brussels since it lists the large majority of attractions of interest in the city (with the exception of the Cinquantenaire and Heizel parks). Most are duplicates, i.e. listed in this article and in the Brussels Article. A single well structured article (like for example Sarajevo, a comparable capital article in size and terms of touristic interest) is better than numerous fragmented articles. IMHO the city isn't big enough to justify splitting up in districts. ArticCynda (talk) 13:30, 12 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Districtification isn't necessarily about the size of a city but about the number of its attractions. And there have been calls for districtification in the case of Sarajevo. Hobbitschuster (talk) 15:15, 12 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
I am in favour of not merging, as it would make the Brussels article far too long. Syced (talk) 02:32, 13 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Structure of the "see" section

[edit]

The structure of the "see" section is quite messy + there are lots of commented out listings. Is this an artefact of the districtification of Brussels, or was it like this to begin with? In any case, it is very confusing at the moment. Xsobev (talk) 11:10, 26 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I removed quite a few duplicate listings from the see section, which makes it slightly more readable, but the above problems are still there. Xsobev (talk) 14:48, 26 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Xsobev, I believe some of the listings were already present in the article, to which a large number was recently added to clear out the main Brussels article. I suspect most of the commented listings would be identified duplicates waiting for deletion. ArticCynda (talk) 15:13, 26 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
I tried to make the "see" section more usable by merging duplicate listings, creating coherent "Museums and galleries" and "Churches" sections. The currently uncategorized listings in "see" could be split up further into groups for easier reading. I also removed the commented out listings after verifying that they exist in other districts in Brussels (most notably Brussels/Centre). I also cleaned up the other sections except for "eat" and "drink". In the intro text there is still a reference to the "Grand Place/Grote Markt", which is not covered in this district (but in Brussels/Centre). The state of this district page before I made the changes was very embarrassing, and one should keep in mind that travelers are actually reading these pages while they are being edited and districtified. I now also mostly cleaned up the "eat" section (removing and merging duplicates, restoring structure that was lost during districtification, moving listings into their correct sections, ...).
User:ArticCynda, when you're working on districtification the next time, please don't just copy-paste content from the main page to the district pages without taking care of existing content there, leaving it to others to clean up the mess you created (your edit). Also just commenting out listings here that are listed in a different district is a waste of time - I had to go through each of them to check whether they exist elsewhere and whether they need to be merged (your edit).
